Canadian Nationals Start in Dieppe

Canadian Nationals Start in Dieppe

12th September 2012: The 2012 Canadian Track Cycling Championships are here! The 2012 edition of the event will be held in Dieppe, New-Brunswick, starting on Wednesday, and will end on Monday September 17.

Throughout the six-day event, fans will see in action Canada’s top track cyclists racing on the newly resurfaced track at the Caisse Populaire Dieppe/Memramcook velodrome, including the full Olympic Team Pursuit medallists Tara Whitten, Gillian Carleton, Jasmin Glaesser and Laura Brown, as well as Olympic sprinter Joseph Veloce.

Luc Arseneau, technical director of the organizing committee, is pleased with the preparations in advance of the event. “We are ready to welcome Canada’s best riders to Dieppe, to New Brunswick, to Atlantic Canada. Thanks to all our partners, to the many volunteers who are helping us, as well as the City of Dieppe and the Province of New Brunswick for their contributions, we are confident that the riders will enjoy their stay in Atlantic Canada. The event will be a great opportunity to see some our Canadian Olympic medallists in action, as well as the best para-cyclists, cadet, junior and master racers this country has to offer.”

Canadian Nationals Start in Dieppe

Racing begins with the Elite races mainly on Wednesday and Thursday. Then, the Junior and Cadet riders will take over the track. On the weekend, the para-cyclists, fresh off the Paralympic Games in London, and the Masters will then conclude the event.

The event is organized by the National Cycling Centre - Atlantic Canada in collaboration with Cycling Canada and Vélo NB. The National Cycling Centre - Atlantic Canada has hosted five Canadian Championships since 2001. For more information, please visit:

Les médaillées olympiques rouleront au Nouveau-Brunswick

Les Championnats canadiens de cyclisme sur piste 2012 sont finalement arrivés. Cet événement de Championnats canadiens aura lieu à Dieppe, au Nouveau-Brunswick à compter du mercredi, et seront termineront le lundi 17 septembre.

Tout au long de l'événement de six jours, les fans pourront voir en action les meilleurs cyclistes sur piste du Canada sur la piste qui a nouvellement refait surface au vélodrome Caisse Populaire Dieppe / Memramcook, y compris les médaillées olympiques en poursuite par équipe Tara Whitten, Gillian Carleton, Jasmin Glaesser et Laura Brown, ainsi que le sprinter olympique Joseph Veloce.

Luc Arseneau, directeur technique au sein du comité d'organisation, se réjouit de la préparation à l'avance de l'événement. « Nous sommes prêts à accueillir les meilleurs pistards du Canada, à Dieppe, au Nouveau-Brunswick, au Canada atlantique. Grâce à tous nos partenaires qui nous supportent, aux nombreux bénévoles qui nous ont aidés, ainsi qu’à la ville de Dieppe et de la Province du Nouveau-Brunswick pour leurs contributions, nous sommes convaincus que les coureurs pourront profiter de leur séjour au Canada atlantique. L'événement sera une excellente occasion de voir nos médaillés olympiques canadiens en action, ainsi que les meilleurs coureurs de paracyclisme, juniors, cadets et maîtres que ce pays a à offrir. »

Les compétitions débutent avec les courses d'élite, disputées principalement mercredi et jeudi. Ensuite, ce seront les coureurs juniors et cadets qui sauteront sur la piste. Ce week-end, les paracyclistes, fraîchement revenus de Londres pour les Jeux paralympiques, et les maîtres seront en action pour conclure l'événement.
