2012/2013 UCI Track Cycling World Cup
Round Three - Aguascalientes, Mexico

UCI Track Cycling World Cup - Aguascalientes

The final round of the 2012/2013 UCI Track Cycling World Cup Series will take place in Aguascalientes, Mexico from the 17th-19th January 2013.

Aguascalientes has a metropolitan population of 1,000,000 and is located in North-Central Mexico. It stands on the banks of the Río Aguascalientes, 1880 meters above sea level.

It was a Chichimeca Indian territory and later blossomed as a strategic link between Mexico City and the mines of Zacatecas, while prosperous agriculture and ranching helped feed Spain’s emerging New World cities. More than two thirds of the local population of Aguascalientes is of European descent, mostly Spanish and French with settlement of French troops in the Valley of Huejucar during the Second Mexican Empire.

The city has a huge Track Cycling pedigree with the legendary outdoor Aguascalientes Velodrome hosting World Cups and Junior World Championships within the last twenty years, however the new indoor velodrome in Aguascalientes is set to herald in a new generation of world class international Track Cycling events, starting with the Pan-AM Championships and now the UCI Track Cycling World Cup.
