Marvulli/Marguet Win 6 Giorni delle Rose

Marvulli/Marguet Win 6 Giorni delle Rose

16th July 2012: The experienced Franco Marvulli and his young partner Tristan Marguet didn’t let the victory in Fiorenzuola slip out of their hands. They took the lead already on the first day but gave it away for a couple of days and then went back in front on the second-last day of the race.

As expected the Czech team Kadlec – Kankovsky did benefit of a bonuslap for passing 200 points and so did also the other Czech combination Hochmann – Hacecky, taking their first bonuslap when they passed the 100 points.

Thus those three teams were together in the lead and just had to watch each other in the final Madison. Marvulli – Marguet and Kadlec – Kankovsky were very close on points, while Hochmann – Hacecky were bound to take a lap, if they should take the victory – not an easy job on the 400 Meter long track in Fiorenzuola.

As one could imagine, it was the last sprints deciding the race, and once again the fast and clever Marvulli played his cards the best way. It was his fifth victory in Fiorenzuola and his 31st 6-Days win total. For Marguet it was the first win in Fiorenzuola and his second total: He also won with Marvulli in 2009 in the tent in Tilburg.

The final of the Mens Elite Race was the end of a six days fabulous cycling-festival in Fiorenzuola.

Besides regaining the overall lead the Swiss team also completed the fastest time in Friday evenings "Giro Lanciato", recording 21,442 Sec. (66,151 Km/h).
